Hi, I'm Theresa

Sunrise Perspectives grew out of a lifetime of learning that the way we see our lives can change everything.

 

My journey toward perspective began long before this work existed. I grew up in a difficult environment where encouragement was scarce and I often felt unseen and unsupported. I was told more than once that I wasn’t capable, and for a long time I believed those words. What I really needed growing up was a mentor—someone who believed in me and helped me see my worth. That experience is what later ignited my passion for supporting youth and creating safe spaces where young people know they matter.

 

At 18, determined to start a new life and do something positive, I joined the United States Navy. Serving in the military allowed me to see the world and discover strength within myself that I didn’t know I had. It was a turning point that began reshaping how I viewed my life and my future.

 

My husband became one of the first people who truly believed in me. His support helped me begin breaking the chains of the past and see that my story did not have to define my limits. Together we navigated many transitions, moving from place to place and starting over again and again without nearby family support. Those seasons were not always easy, but they taught me resilience, adaptability, and faith.

 

At 21, I faced a life-threatening medical emergency that required an emergency hysterectomy after severe hemorrhaging. That experience became another moment that changed how I saw life. When you realize how fragile life can be, you begin to notice what truly matters.

 

Over the years, through faith, reflection, and many life experiences, I began to realize something powerful: perspective shapes everything. The way we see our lives influences our hope, our choices, and our ability to move forward.

 

That realization is what led me to create Sunrise Perspectives.

 

Through photography, speaking, retreats, and nature experiences, my hope is to help others slow down, see beauty again, and rediscover meaning in their own stories. I believe that even in the hardest chapters of life, there is still light to be found—sometimes we just need a new perspective to see
